Job Title: Monitoring, Research and Evidence Co-ordinator

Reporting to: Programme Lead – Data and Evidence

About the role: To support Reall’s Data and Evidence programme, working with the Programme Lead to continue to develop Reall’s monitoring, evaluation and learning systems, and develop and implement projects collecting and leveraging data and evidence from Reall programmes and wider housing markets in Africa and Asia.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL): Support the strengthening and embedding of Reall’s MEL Framework, including the continued updating of Reall’s internal database, and various data collection tools and templates. Work with project partners and wider eco system players to capture MEL data and roll out household surveys. Analyse data and extract learning to inform and improve Reall’s work.
  • Research and evidence: Build on Reall’s body of evidence on the affordable housing sector, providing understanding of the contexts, issues and opportunities. Support the identification of research, data and evidence gaps and drive solutions. Lead or support on individual research and evidence projects.
  • Project design: Develop concepts and plans for Data and Evidence project delivery, including generating ideas, preparing content and building new partnerships for delivery of work.
  • Business development and fundraising: Working alongside Reall’s Fundraising team, manage or support the production of concept notes and project proposals. Manage the design of monitoring frameworks and the provision of data for funder and investor reporting requirements.
  • Publications and external communication: Manage the regular updates of Reall’s Data Dashboard and support its continued improvement. Produce a variety of public-facing thought pieces, including social media, blog posts, case studies and in-depth external reports.
  • Relationships and collaboration: Contribute to relationships with external peer organisations, universities, data bodies and practitioners in the UK and internationally. Work with external organisations to explore opportunities, share learning and strengthen Reall’s visibility, reputation through outreach activities.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of Reall’s services, products, tools, methods,
    systems and standards

  • Serving cross-functionally in the execution of Reall’s annual business plan

  • Carrying out such other reasonable duties as may be required by the Chief Executive

Other requirements

This role is based in Coventry; we are currently hybrid with homeworking up to three days per week.

The role may include overseas travel.

Package

Salary:

£28,000 - £36,000 per annum, dependent upon experience

Hours:

Normal office hours are 35 hours per week, 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday. We are open to flexible working patterns subject to the objectives and outcomes of the role being met. We are currently working hybrid with blended office and homeworking with the ability to work up to three days from home.

Annual leave:

25 days plus 1 additional day for every year of service, plus an additional day off on your birthday

Probation:

Six months.

Notice period:

One week during probation, two months thereafter 

Person Specification

Education: A degree or equivalent professional qualification, ideally in a relevant subject.

Experience: At least one year’s relevant experience in a Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning and/or research role

  

Key Competencies

Essential

  • Good computer literacy skills, including in MS Word and MS Excel

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Experience in project monitoring and evaluation and/or research

  • Excellent numeracy skills

  • Critical information gathering, knowledge management and research skills.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills suitable for a wide range of audiences including ability to develop relationships with clients and partners.

Desirable:

  • Understanding of urban development (housing, land rights, water and sanitation)
  • Experience in project development and fundraising
  • Experience in using statistical packages, or working with large datasets in MS Excel
  • One year or more of relevant experience in international development
  • Practical overseas experience, particularly in Africa or Asia
  • Understanding of urban development in the global South (housing, land rights, environment, water and sanitation, urban poverty eradication and inclusion etc.)
