Joel Witten

Joel Witten is the Head of Data at Rec Room. Prior to this, they were the Data Science Manager at Facebook from December 2017 to December 2021. Joel has also worked as an adjunct instructor at NYU School of Professional Studies, teaching Statistical Measurements, Analysis & Research (INTG GC1055), a required course for the Masters in Integrated Marketing.

Witten has extensive experience in data science and analytics. Joel has worked as the Head of Data Engineering & Analytics at Venmo and as a data scientist at Squarespace, where they focused on modeling Customer Lifetime Value, AB testing, and Event Analytics.

At Facebook, Witten manages a team of data scientists who work on a variety of projects, including marketing channel optimization, retention modeling, and predicting conversion. Joel also works with the data team to create tooling solutions in python and collaborates with the leadership in Customer Care to develop proper KPIs and business metrics.

Joel Witten has a Master's in Statistics from Columbia University and a Bachelor's in Math and Computer Science from the University of Maryland.
