As The Director of Medical Content at Red Nucleus, you will lead a team of medical writers and editors executing content strategy and copy for a wide range of digital healthcare solutions including pharmaceutical and medical device clients in the US and globally. The Director will work in close collaboration with all departments to ensure our medical content vision is executed, accuracy is maintained, and the quality of the deliverable is exceptional.

The ideal candidate will possess expertise in creative thinking, and execution of strategy and tactics. They will also excel in leadership and team management with a proven ability to build individual and team competency, capability, and capacity. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Mentor, coach, and manage a team of internal and contract medical writers, to ensure delivery of work that is consistently exceptional quality and aligned with regulatory requirements. Develop, measure, and ensure the successful delivery of team goals and individual learning and development plans
  • Develop and oversee the creation of scientific storylines and message platforms for scientific and medical initiatives including peer-reviewed scientific communications, slide decks, key educator materials, category overviews, animation scripts, and copy decks for digital detail aids and other apps.
  • Assist with resourcing to ensure subject matter expertise and skills align with project requirements
  • Develop, implement, and control editorial standards and optimize workflow to ensure high-quality copy throughout the team
  • Play an active role in new business acquisition for the agency by offering ideas based on understanding of therapeutic area, current clinical activity and regulatory landscape
  • Provide facilitation support for both client workshops and external stakeholder meetings as required

About You

  • Advanced degree in the life sciences (PhD, MD or PharmD required)

  • 5 years experience managing and leading a team of writers and editors

  • 7 - 10 years relevant medical information, communications, or marketing writing experience (agency or pharmaceutical)

  • Understanding of industry (pipeline, clinical research, reimbursement, patient care, etc.), regulatory and clinical practices

  • Experience in multiple therapeutic areas with high value placed on oncology, neurobiology, cardiovascular, dermatology, and inflammatory diseases

  • Proven experience and confidence presenting to and interacting with client and medical experts, utilizing problem-solving and strategy-generating skills

  • Working knowledge of clinical or preclinical research principles, biostatistics, and epidemiology

  • Prior experience in digital media, web applications, or innovative technologies

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
