Michael Hadley is a software engineer currently employed at Replit. From 2021 to 2017, they were an artist using code as a medium at {encodedobjects}. During this same period, they were also a freelance developer and an adjunct professor at UIC and SAIC. In 2017, they were an assistant professor and learning product developer at Columbia College Chicago. In 2016, they were a digital media mentor at the Convergence Academies at Columbia College and an instructor at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago's Middle School Program. In 2015, they were the curriculum director and lead instructor at CodeAbode.
Michael Hadley completed a Self-designed Degree in Cognitive Science from Lafayette College in 2010, with a focus on Neuroscience, Psychology, and Computer Science. Michael then went on to pursue a Master of Science in Vision Science & Computational Neuroscience from the University of California, Berkeley in 2013. Finally, they earned a Master of Fine Arts in Art & Technology from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2015.
