Andreas Hegers

Andreas Hegers has extensive work experience in the telecommunications industry. Andreas started their career at ITM as a Sales Manager for Utilities from 1991 to 1994. Andreas then joined BHF-BANK as a Project Manager for Corporate Networks from 1994 to 1996.

In 1996, Hegers joined Alcatel, where they held various positions, including Sales Representative for Power Utilities, Account Manager, and Director of Sales for National and International Carriers. During their time at Alcatel, they successfully grew the business by winning multi-million dollar optical backbone contracts and received the Salesman of the Year award in 1997.

In 2001, Hegers moved to Nortel Networks, where they served as Director of Technical Sales for Metro Ethernet Networks. Andreas was responsible for delivering solution definitions, competitive positioning, and product/bid presentations. Andreas also held positions as Director of Strategy and Architecture and Director of Market Development for Metro Ethernet Networks.

Hegers joined Ciena in 2010 as Director of Sales for Central and Eastern Europe and Director of Market Development for NGN Architectures in EMEA. Andreas then moved to ECI Telecom in 2013, where they held various roles, including Head of Sales Development Europe and Head of Corporate and Portfolio Marketing. Andreas played a key role in defining ECI's Elastic Networks strategy and their SDN/NFV positioning.

Most recently, Hegers joined Ribbon Communications in 2020 as VP Business Development & Channels for EMEA & APAC. Andreas assumed responsibility for establishing and leading Ribbon's IP Optical Center of Excellence for the wider EMEA region, focusing on T1 service providers and critical infrastructures.

Andreas Hegers completed their education with an Engineer's Degree in Communications Engineering from the University of Applied Sciences Dusseldorf. Andreas pursued this degree from 1983 to 1988. Afterward, they obtained another Engineer's Degree in Economical Engineering from the University of Applied Sciences Niederrhein, where they studied from 1988 to 1990.
