Job description

The primary responsibility of the Structural Engineer (Project Manager) is to provide support in the planning and design of commercial and industrial construction projects.  Working closely with the design team, clients, and project managers to overcome construction challenges, ensure the quality of the project and advise on the best course of action to minimize environmental impact and risk.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Work with in-house design team (Architectural, Structural, Civil) and project management on providing cost-efficient designs for clients.
  • Provide structural design & engineering services as needed for projects
  • Assist & coordinate outside consultants as needed on projects.
  • Meet with current & potential clients on projects, master planning concepts, proposals, jobsite meetings, etc.
  • Prepare or present projects as needed to local, municipal & state agencies for approvals (planning commissions, city councils, etc.)
  • Assist in preparing RFP’s, proposals, estimated costs & other criteria.
  • Assist estimators in bidding site-related items and qualifying bids.
  • Assist project managers with site-related questions on projects and provide on-site guidance as needed.
  • Pursue outside opportunities with structural engineering consulting, design & maintenance services.
  • Assist in due diligence, and other preconstruction activities with the construction and real estate group.
  • Direct or participate in surveying to lay out installations or establish reference points, grades, or elevations to guide construction.
  • Direct engineering activities, ensuring compliance with environmental, safety, or other governmental regulations.
  • Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography, or other topographical or geologic data.
  • Conduct studies of environmental conditions to identify engineering problems and assess potential project impact.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Architectural Engineering from an accredited university
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • Demonstrate a strong working knowledge of ASCE codes and standards, Federal, State and Local building codes, and other statutory requirements.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities; ability to multitask effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Advanced decision-making and problem-solving
  • Experience building engineering design and construction of multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Ability to create Construction Documents in AutoCAD and Revit preferred.
