Darren Stokes has a long and diverse work experience. Darren began their career in 1993 at Enterprise Rent-A-Car as a Branch Manager. Darren then moved on to AmeriCredit in 1998, where they started as a Recruiter and eventually became a Regional HR Manager. Darren managed employee relation functions for a call center and a 5-state branch dealer group. After leaving AmeriCredit in 2003, they worked at Avis Budget Group as a Human Resource Manager until 2005. From 2005 to 2012, they served as a Regional Human Resource Director at Asbury Automotive Group. In 2012, they joined Rick Case Automotive Group as the VP of Human Resources. Later in their career, in 2019, Stokes became the Chairman of Sheridan College. Most recently, in 2022, they became a Board Member at WLRN Public Media.

Darren Stokes attended the University of South Alabama from 1989 to 1993, where they earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Management. Additionally, they obtained a Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.) degree in Business Administration and Management, General from the same university.
