Kiran Nawaz, Ph.D., joined RNAissance Ag as a Molecular Biology Staff Scientist in October 2022.
She comes to RNAissance Ag from the University of Arizona, where she worked on a Psyllid RNAi project to control citrus greening, funded by the USDA-NIFA. In this project, her responsibilities involve dsRNA synthesis, target gene cloning, RNA and DNA isolation, cDNA synthesis, running and analyzing RT-qPCR for both Asian citrus psyllid and potato psyllid.
She is a molecular biologist with more than five years’ experience in research and application of molecular biology, including expertise with high-tech tools and scientific instruments. Her previous research experience includes a post-doctoral project at the Ondokuz Mayıs Üniversitesi in Turkey and and an internship at the University of Arizona.
A native of Lahore, Pakistan, received a Ph.D. in Agricultural Molecular Plant Pathology from the University of Punjab in Pakistan, where she also received a master’s degree. Her bachelor’s degree is in plant sciences, molecular biology, from Kinniard College in Pakistan.
