Roy Villavicencio

Roy Villavicencio has over 10 years of professional work experience. In 2004, they began their career as a Senior Production Operator at FedEx Kinko's, where they handled the pre-flight process of all digital media and worked with clients on custom graphic design projects. In 2006, they became an Assistant Manager at Aaron Brothers Art & Framing, providing customers with high-quality custom framing, matting, and finishing options. In 2009, they were an Art Intern at Sony Online Entertainment, designing, modeling, and texturing 3D props and environments for an MMO platform. In 2010, they became Lead UX Designer/UI Artist at LOLapps, leading the UI/UX development for five Flash-based Facebook games totaling over 50MM MAU. In 2011, they co-founded DogBff, Inc., a startup focused on helping dog owners use technology to better the life of their pups, and released a 5-star rated photo sharing app for iOS. In 2012, they joined PopCap Games as Senior UI Artist, UX Designer, designing user flows, wireframe layouts, animated mockups, and playable prototypes for feature development, usability research, and A/B testing. In 2016, they became Staff UX Designer at WB Games San Francisco, collaborating closely with game designers, engineers, and artists to create immersive mobile AR experiences. In 2018, they became Owner/Operator at Royally Baked SF, specializing in birthday cakes, wedding cakes, macarons, cream puffs, and tarts. In 2020, they joined Pocket Gems as Staff UI Designer. Currently, they are a Staff UI/UX Designer at Roboto Games.

Roy Villavicencio obtained a BFA in Animation & Visual Effects from the Academy of Art University between 2004 and 2010. Prior to that, they earned an AA in Graphic Design from the College of San Mateo between 2002 and 2004. In addition, Roy has obtained various certifications, including a Kentucky Colonel from the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels in 2022, a Doctorate of Metaphysics and Ordained Minister from the Universal Life Church in 2015, an SSI Open Water Scuba Diver from Bamboo Reef Enterprises in 2013, a California Food Handler from StateFoodSafety.com in 2018, and an Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED from the American Red Cross in 2015.
