Kaja Heidar has extensive experience in policy and advocacy roles within humanitarian organizations. Kaja started their career in 2006 with the Norwegian Red Cross as a Delegate. Kaja then held various positions within the Norwegian Red Cross, including Advocacy Advisor and Senior Advocacy Advisor. From 2013 to 2014, they worked as a Child Protection Officer at UNICEF and as an Officer at IFRC. Kaja also gained experience in communication and organizational development as a Communications and Organizational Development Consultant at Akershus Red Cross. In 2015, Kaja returned to the Norwegian Red Cross and held roles such as Team Leader Policy, Head of Policy and Humanitarian Diplomacy, and Acting Head of Policy and Law Unit. Kaja's work experience demonstrates their expertise in policy, advocacy, and humanitarian programs.
Kaja Heidar has pursued various educational programs throughout their academic career. In 2003, they attended the University of Agder (UiA) where they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Development Studies, focusing on development theory, international relations, and organizational theory. Kaja later pursued a Master's degree in Peace and Conflict Studies from the University of Oslo (UiO) from 2007 to 2009, specializing in social science. Additionally, in 2012, Kaja attended the University of Bergen (UiB) and completed a program in Human Rights Observation. Kaja briefly attended the University of Essex in 2014, where they studied Applied Research Methods with a specific emphasis on hidden, marginal, and excluded populations.
