Eric Baldwin

Vice President Structural Biology and Biophysics at ROME Therapeutics

Eric Baldwin has over 30 years of experience in the biopharmaceutical industry. Eric began their career in 1987 as an X-ray crystallographer at the National Cancer Institute, where they determined the structure of IL-8 and other chemokines. In 1994, Eric joined Pharmacia, Inc. as a Team Leader and Senior Research Advisor and Fellow. Eric led technical teams that tackled structural studies in cancer, immunology, infectious, central nervous system, cardiovascular and metabolic diseases, and determined the first x-ray structures of numerous Staph drug targets and first drug complex with alpha-7 ion channel surrogate. In 2003, Eric joined Eli Lilly Company as a Group Leader and Research Advisor, where they created a structure databank in collaboration with computational and chemistry colleagues. In 2005, Eric joined Bristol-Myers Squibb Company as Director of Crystallography, where they drove 5 selective integration initiatives and led IT projects that built a comprehensive workflow and data management system for crystallography. From 2011-2014, Eric was a part-time entrepreneur, providing drug discovery consulting services to clients. From 2014-2018, Eric worked at Johnson & Johnson as a Biologics Discovery Project Leader, where they orchestrated the execution of antibody drug discovery projects from concept to phase 1. In 2018, Eric joined IBM as a Senior Project Manager at IBM Watson Health. In 2020, Eric joined Small Parma as a Principal Drug Discovery Consultant, providing project management services and scientific consulting. Eric also joined ROME Therapeutics as Vice President Structural Biology and Biophysics, where they provide computational modeling, crystallographic structure determination and analysis, and biophysics and biochemical data to support drug discovery decisions and compound advancement.

Eric Baldwin has a long history of education and certifications. Eric received a BS in Biochemistry from Purdue University from 1978 to 1982. Eric then went on to obtain a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill from 1983 to 1990. In 2017, they obtained certifications in Lean Six Sigma Foundations, Learning Minitab, Microsoft Project 2016 Essential Training, Microsoft Project Server: Administration, Scrum: Advanced, Scrum: The Basics, Six Sigma Foundations, and Six Sigma: Green Belt from LinkedIn. In 2018, they obtained a certification in Transitioning from Waterfall to Agile Project Management from LinkedIn.
