Wilson McKerrow has a diverse work experience spanning from 2009 to 2022. In 2009, they began working as a Research Assistant at UCSF. Wilson also worked as a Student Tutor and Research Assistant at Haverford College, where they wrote C++ and Fortran code to implement a model for straight and helical rods and ran extensive simulations. In 2010, they worked as a SULI Intern at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, where they created a computational model to understand the crystallization pathways for a theoretical material. In 2011, they worked as a Temporary Research Assistant at the University of Virginia Health System, where they built software to combine gene evidence across species in a phylogenetic tree and wrote C++ code to extract relevant data from different file formats. In 2012, they began working as an Applied Math PhD Student at Brown University. From 2018 to 2022, they worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at NYU Langone Health and is currently working as a Senior Data Scientist at ROME Therapeutics.

Wilson McKerrow attended Phillips Exeter Academy from 2003 to 2007, where they earned a high school degree. Wilson then attended Haverford College from 2007 to 2011, where they earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics. Wilson went on to attend Brown University from 2012 to 2018, where they earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Applied Mathematics.
