About the role:  

The mission of our Head of Product & Engineering is to help RoomRaccoon become the most adopted hotel management system in the world by ensuring that our Product & Engineering Teams are operating at the highest level possible, according to our One-Page Strategic Plan (OPSP). You will be hands-on, identifying and managing requirements, priorities and the launch (including the development) of new features and solutions. The impact of product & engineering decisions should be made based on the hotelier journey and you will be a key decision-maker, with our CEO & CPO in both the development of our product and the growth of RoomRaccoon.

Your main duties and responsibilities will be - but not limited to: 

Product: 

  • Assisting with creating and managing our product roadmap and product development process

  • Working with the Product Manager and CPO to translate the product roadmap into a development schedule for optimisation in terms of our ways of working

  • Provide information to the Product Team based on our hoteliers using RoomRaccoon, our sales teams, and marketing team and translate these into product solutions that deliver the value required for our hoteliers

  • Understand the financial and commercial impact of our competitors and the features provided

  • Be responsible for project managing how we scope and design new features, products, and use cases

  • Provide innovative solutions according to sprints and the OPSP

  • Provide information on trends in the hotel tech industry and how they impact product development

  • On a day-to-day basis, working with the CPO on decision-making, providing facts for operational efficiency and ensuring execution thereof.

  • Ensuring the stability of our product is adhered to at all times

  • Balancing the strategy and execution of expected outcomes

  • Ensuring that the Product Team follows our agile approach

  • Building an in-house Product Team that is resilient and hands-on

Engineering:

  • Lead, mentor and build a team of engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning
  • Facilitating the re-architecting of our startup-style code base to a mature codebase across the coming years that can support 1 million monthly active users without concessions to performance or stability
  • Provide technical guidance and support to ensure successful project delivery on time and within budget.
  • Lead design and development projects from planning through industrialization, production, and release.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies, evaluating their potential impact and relevance to our business.
  • Implement best practices, processes, and tools to streamline development workflows and improve efficiency.
  • Monitor and analyse performance metrics, identifying areas for optimisation and improvement to enhance the customer experience.

Engineering:

  • Identifying opportunities & implementing/improving processes to increase release quality

  • Architecting our code base roadmap to ensure its sustainable & scalable development

  • Leading the engineering team in alignment with the intended business value creation

  • Conduct performance reviews, identifying development opportunities and addressing challenges within the engineering team

  • Sustainability & Scalability: The code base is kept up to date so it delivers the best business value in the long term while being attractive for our growing engineering team to work with

About you:

  • Language requirements:

    • English
  • Qualifications/Experience:  

    • Worked in a SaaS company whose revenue has hit €20 Million ARR
    • Experience working in a bootstrapped environment
    • Has strategically hired and built in-house product & engineering teams as opposed to outsourcing
    • Experience in Agile and Scrum methodologies
    • Team Squad experience and experience in structuring a team according to a tech scale-up such as RoomRaccoon
    • International experience; Europe and Africa
    • Proven experience in software development and technical leadership roles, with a track record of successfully delivering complex projects.
    • Worked with Product Manager(s) and understands the functionality
    • Experience in ensuring team efficiency and management
