Emara Angus is an Education Specialist at Royal Roads University. Angus previously served as President of Camosun DECA from May 2016 to April 2017.
Angus's responsibilities as President included planning and implementing DECA events, meetings, and fundraisers; hosting DECA info sessions and socials; managing DECA's social media, communications, and emails; mentoring and managing the current DECA board; coaching and motivating members around the case competition process; connecting students together and encouraging networking; and maintaining and nurturing relationships with local organizations and DECA's partners. Angus was also responsible for organizing and recruiting DECA members to volunteer at Braefoot Community Association events like the Family Fun Night, Fun Zone at the Harbour Cats Game, Charity Poker Night, and Friends of Braefoot Gala.
During their time as President, Angus accomplished many things, including receiving a State Leadership Award for demonstrating dedication and leadership on campus and with the DECA chapter (April 2017); placing 3rd in International Marketing and being a top 5 finalist for Sustainable Business at a regional case competition in Bellevue, WA (February 2017); placing 3rd out of 37 teams in an International Business Competition competing in Business Ethics at in Washington, DC (April 2016); placing 3rd in a Business Ethics regional case competition in Spokane, WA (February 2016); organizing a focus group for DECA members and the Policy Manager at Camosun College for Camosun's new Sexual Misconduct and Violence Policy (January 2017); collaborating on a successful DECA Comedy Night Fundraiser with over 100 tickets sold (January 2017); being a member of the Executive Council for the Leadership Conference in Port Angeles, WA (November 2016); being a member of the Executive Council for the Regional Competition and Conference (February 2016); co-MCing for a DECA fundraising event with over 100 guests in attendance (January 2016); and attending a Leadership Conference in Leavenworth, WA (November 2015).
Emara Angus has a Graduate Certificate in Professional Communication Management from Royal Roads University, a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and Marketing with an Internship designation from Camosun College, and a Diploma in Business Administration and Management, General from Camosun College. Emara also has a certification from Hootsuite Media Inc. in Hootsuite Certified Professional and a certification from HubSpot in Inbound Certification.
