Executive Director Of Title IX Compliance & Employee Education at Sacred Heart University

Mia James, Ed.D. has extensive work experience in the field of Title IX compliance and employee education. Mia currently serves as the Executive Director of Title IX Compliance & Employee Education at Sacred Heart University, a role they have held since May 2023. Prior to this, they were the Director of Title IX Compliance & Employee Education at the same institution from July 2022 to May 2023. Before joining Sacred Heart University, Mia worked as the Title IX Coordinator and Manager of Employee Education from January 2019 to July 2022.

Prior to their time at Sacred Heart University, Mia worked at the University of Notre Dame as the Assistant Director for Education, Leadership & Communications at the Gender Relations Center from June 2017 to January 2019. Mia initially joined the University of Notre Dame as a Student Activities Program Coordinator from July 2015 to June 2017.

Mia began their career in higher education at New York University as a Graduate Assistant for New and Transitioning Student Programs from September 2014 to June 2015. Mia also gained experience as a Resident Services Intern at Loyola Marymount University from May 2014 to August 2014. Mia'searly experience includes a Graduate Internship for Student Organizations and Programming at Fordham University from August 2013 to August 2014.

Mia James, Ed.D. received their Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) degree in Leadership and Learning in Organizations from Vanderbilt University in 2023. Prior to that, they obtained a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Higher Education Administration from New York University in 2015 and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Sociology from Sacred Heart University in 2013. In addition to their degrees, Mia has also received various certifications, including being a Title IX Coordinator, Title IX Hearing Officer & Decision-Maker, Title IX Investigator, and Trainer in Bystander Intervention. Mia has also obtained certifications in Violence Risk Assessment and Protecting Gods Children for Adults.
