TITLE: Senior House Manager

SUMMARY: This employee is responsible for overseeing the provision of direct services to survivors of domestic abuse and their children. Ensures the shelter locations operate within best practice standards, and that staff are trained to provide trauma-informed care. Shows proficiency in upholding confidentiality and understanding the expectations for direct reports and other duties associated with this supervisory role. This position carries the responsibility of overseeing house management staff members.

Direct Reports: House Managers (Anderson, Greenville and Oconee)

This is a full time, salaried, exempt position eligible for full benefits.

Job Responsibilities

  • This role involves overseeing house management, including tasks such as conducting interviews, making hiring decisions, providing training, creating schedules, approval of timesheets, fostering professional development, and addressing any challenges that may arise.
  • Collaborates with the Director of Shelter Operations to offer guidance and assistance to house management.
  • Promotes and facilitates collaboration across teams; fosters team unity and support in achieving shared objectives.
  • Participates actively in shelter operations and demonstrating an understanding of client and staff requirements at all shelter locations.
  • Rotates between shelter locations weekly. Conducts regular supervisory inspections and quality assurance checks to ensure compliance with best practice standards for shelter operations and addresses any concerns promptly.
  • Ensures Household Management maintains cleanliness, and upkeep of the house, storage areas, and outer areas. We must maintain strict compliance with health and safety requirements, as well as regulations required by our funding sources.  Responsible for ensuring shelters have needed groceries and supplies, and being aware of all household needs, while staying on budget.
  • Consistently exemplifies agency and team protocols, maintains professional boundaries, utilizes trauma-informed approaches, and practices compassionate accountability when interacting with both staff and clients.
  • Engages in the development and maintenance of shelter forms and training materials.
  • Supports house management in facilitating community living related meetings and groups with families residing in the shelter.
  • Demonstrates compassion and empathy while supporting clients experiencing a range of challenges, such as triggers, trauma symptoms, and various emotional, mental, or physical health concerns. This includes but is not limited to, active addiction, suicidal ideation, and mental health conditions.
  • Encourages the adoption of healthy self-care practices and participates in activities aimed at minimizing the effects of secondary trauma and compassion fatigue within the community living team.
  • Maintains comprehensive records related to community living practices, shelter operations, and direct supervision.
  • Regularly engages in various agency meetings, including staff supervision meetings, leadership, agency trainings, community living check-ins, and shelter supervisor meetings.
  • Participates in the on-call rotation and assists with shelter coverage as needed for house management.
  • Shows proficiency in both independent work and collaboration within a team setting.
  • Displays competency in a range of skills including verbal and written communication, collaboration, organization, and utilizing computers and technology for basic communication and work tasks.
  • Demonstrates a proactive attitude, drive for self-improvement, ability to problem-solve effectively and willing to assist team-members when needed.
  • Enthusiastically supports and models the mission and vision of Safe Harbor to peers, clients, and the community.
  • Performs other or similar agency duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills: Qualifications & Skills: Candidates must possess a high school diploma. Previous experience in residential facility management or supervision is preferred. Applicants should be physically capable of carrying out all responsibilities associated with this role. Demonstrating maturity, flexibility, and strong interpersonal skills is vital for success in this fast-paced and challenging environment.
