Shari Bickford

Shari Bickford has extensive experience in the field of scientific research, particularly in the areas of drug metabolism and pharmokinetics (DMPK). Shari'smost recent role is as a Senior Scientist Research Informatics at Sage Therapeutics, which began in August 2021.

Prior to joining Sage Therapeutics, Shari was employed at Biogen from February 2019 to August 2021 as a Scientist I. In this role, they led the adoption of digital transformation technology within the DMPK department, specifically in the areas of compound and assay management systems. Shari also represented business needs for training efforts across the Biotherapeutics and Medicinal Sciences division.

Before Biogen, Shari worked at the Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research (NIBR) from October 2017 to February 2019. Shari initially held the position of Investigator II, where they provided expertise and strategic input for small-molecule programs. Shari also designed and interpreted pre-clinical data to advance projects towards candidate selection. Subsequently, they held the role of Scientist II at NIBR, where they served as a subject matter expert in time-dependent inhibition mechanistic studies and contributed to SAR (structure-activity relationship) guidance. Shari also played a key role in investigating the link between in vitro CYP (Cytochrome P450) activation and in vivo effects.

Prior to their time at NIBR, Shari worked at Tecan as a Scientist from July 2000 to August 2003, and at Gamera Bioscience as a Scientist from August 1997 to July 2000.

Shari Bickford obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Chemistry from The Johns Hopkins University between the years 1993 and 1997. Recently, in 2022, they completed a Graduate certificate in Organization Development Consulting and Change Management Leadership at Georgetown University.
