Dimitrios Arkilo

Dimitrios Arkilo has a diverse work experience in the medical and pharmaceutical fields. Dimitrios currently holds the position of Vice President and Medical Science Head of Neurology at Sage Therapeutics since 2022. Prior to this, they served as the Vice President of Clinical Development at Acadia Pharmaceuticals Inc. from 2021 to 2022.

Before joining Acadia Pharmaceuticals, Dimitrios worked at Takeda Pharmaceuticals from 2017 to 2021, starting as the Executive Medical Director and Global Clinical Lead, then progressing to the role of Sr. Medical Director in Global Clinical Lead. Dimitrios also held the position of Sr. Medical Director in Translational Research and Early Clinical from 2017 to 2018.

Earlier in their career, Dimitrios served as the Medical Director in Clinical Development at SAGE Therapeutics from 2016 to 2017. Dimitrios gained experience in pediatric neurology and epilepsy while working at the Minnesota Epilepsy Group as an attending physician and Director of the Chromosome 15 clinic from 2013 to 2016.

Dimitrios Arkilo completed their fellowship in Clinical Neurophysiology/Pediatric Epilepsy at the University of Minnesota in 2013 and their fellowship in Pediatric Neurology at Tufts University-Floating Hospital for Children from 2009 to 2012. Dimitrios began their medical career as a resident in Pediatrics at Winthrop-University Hospital from 2006 to 2009.

Dimitrios Arkilo attended Semmelweis University from 1995 to 2001, where they obtained a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree in the field of Medicine. In terms of additional certifications, they obtained a certification in Pediatrics from the American Board of Pediatrics in October 2009. Dimitrios also obtained a certification in Neurology with a special qualification in child neurology from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, Inc. in September 2012. Additionally, they acquired a certification in Epilepsy and pediatric epilepsy from the same institution in September 2013.
