Derek Evans

Derek Evans is a seasoned data scientist currently employed at NewLeaf Symbiotics, Inc. since February 2017, where responsibilities include designing and engineering digital agriculture software, as well as interfacing with stakeholders to communicate research findings. Previously, Derek served as a Senior Web and Database Developer, focusing on the development of spatial databases and automation of data processing tasks, and as a Web and Database Developer, implementing a comparative genomics web platform. Earlier experience includes work as an IT Analyst III at the University of Tennessee, managing relational databases for a national conservation initiative, and as a researcher at Southern Illinois University, developing digital terrain analysis procedures and managing field research projects. Derek holds a Master of Science in Forestry and a Bachelor of Science in Forestry, both from Southern Illinois University, as well as an Associate of Science degree from Kaskaskia College.
