Bioinformatics Analyst II at SALK INSTITUTE FOR BIOLOGICAL STUDIES

Lin Wang serves as a Bioinformatics Analyst II at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies since September 2022, focusing on the development and maintenance of high throughput plant segmentation pipelines and 3D root segmentation models utilizing deep learning techniques. Previously, Lin worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln from August 2018 to August 2022, where the primary focus was on process-based model calibration through advanced machine learning and deep learning methods for multi-species forest segmentation and crop yield prediction. Lin has also been involved in teaching roles as a Graduate Teaching Assistant, leading lab sessions and enhancing lab materials. Prior experience includes a Graduate Research Assistant position at Beijing Normal University, which involved assessing spatiotemporal patterns of crop disaster risks using GIS. Lin holds a PhD in Agricultural & Biological Systems Engineering from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, a Master's degree in Physical Geography from Beijing Normal University, and two Bachelor's degrees in Geographic Information System and Finance from Shandong Agricultural University.
