ROLE: HEAD OF POST-PRODUCTION

ROLE OVERVIEW:

This is an important leadership role responsible for directing and managing SALT's Post Production Team, which includes experiential, audio, post-production, VFX, and more. The Head of Post-Production sets goals, formulates strategies, and conveys the corporate vision to the team while overseeing resource planning and recruitment needs.

This role ensures projects are properly scoped, delivered on time, within budget, and meet the highest quality standards. It involves evaluating productivity, creating budgets, negotiating with suppliers, and managing deadlines to identify areas for improvement.

RESPONSIBILTIES:

  • Develop a comprehensive department roadmap that accounts for year-over-year growth, positioning SALT as a leader in Post Production capabilities.
  • Oversee and manage overall resource planning. Regularly review capacity and staffing needs with business development, production teams, and Heads of Departments to ensure adequate staffing. Communicate these needs to the business development team and formulate strategies based on capacity forecasts. Proactively anticipate recruitment needs and relay them to the recruitment team.
  • Supervise and guide editors and animators to ensure efficiency and quality in their work. Provide ongoing support and advice for their professional development, including training and support. Oversee hiring and promotion processes for team members, ensuring smooth and effective project coordination and clear communication among team members.
  • Manage and expand a growing global freelancer network to support SALT’s increasing portfolio of client projects.
  • Collaborate closely with the VP, Content & Creative leadership to assign projects to the appropriate teams, ensuring assignments align with team skills and availability.
  • Establish and uphold high production standards by continuously enhancing processes and tools, both internal and client-facing. Implement tools and technologies to optimize processes and ensure quality deliverables. Assist in client management and communication to ensure client satisfaction.
  • Actively engage in production to maintaina practical understanding of processes and challenges, contributing to ongoing projects to ensure their success and client satisfaction.
  • Oversee data managementprocessesand the implementation of emerging tools and technologies.
  • Review projects that deviate from their budget or pose a high risk of scope increases. Collaborate with teams and other departments to find creative solutions to keep projects within budget while proposing strategies to mitigate costs.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of a training plan and calendar for the production team. Provide regular performance feedback, mentoring, training, and coaching to the team, supporting their career development. Conduct annual performance reviews for direct reports and recommend salary adjustments.
  • Communicate staffing needs to the recruitment team and assist in screening candidates, conducting interviews, and approving hires. Participate in strategic recruitment projects, such as attracting high-level talent.
  • Monitor the work climate to encourage a positive work environment and adherence to company values. Oversee all matters related to hiring, onboarding, engagement, performance management, and termination of employment in collaboration with Human Resources.
  • Stay current with industry trends and technological advancements, ensuring SALT remainsa leader in innovation with avant-garde approaches.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 8 years of advertising production experience.
  • Proven experience managing and growing a post production team.
  • Strong communication, management, and leadership skills.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Analytical proactive problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to adapt and innovate to improve processes.
  • Strong desire to innovate with emerging AI technologies.
  • Hands-on Editing & VFX experience
  • Familiarity with Premiere Pro, After Effects, Cinema 4D, DaVinci Resolve, Frame.io and the Adobe Suite.
  • Expert Knowledge of Editing, VFX, and post production.
  • Ability to mentor a growing team.
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Strong Relationships with Post Production Vendors & Freelancers
