Ivayla G. has a diverse work experience in the field of research and healthcare. Ivayla has worked as the Director of Immunology Operations at Sana Biotechnology, Inc. since 2023. Prior to that, they served as an Associate Director of the Hypo-immune platform at the same company from 2022 to 2023. Ivayla also worked as a Scientist at Sana Biotechnology from 2020 to 2022.

Before joining Sana Biotechnology, Inc., Ivayla worked at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center as a Graduate Research Assistant from 2015 to 2020. Earlier in their career, Ivayla worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant and Graduate Research Assistant at The University of Alabama in Huntsville from 2011 to 2014. As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, they developed microbiology-based experimental curriculum and led laboratory sections for undergraduate students. As a Graduate Research Assistant, they conducted a thesis project on the role of the L22 ribosomal protein in the expression regulation of Escherichia coli genes.

Ivayla'swork experience also includes a role as a Central Processing Tech - Pathology at Huntsville Hospital from 2011 to 2012, where they assisted pathologists in frozen section specimen testing and managed specimen collection and record-keeping.

Following that, Ivayla earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Pathobiology and Molecular Medicine from the University of Cincinnati between 2014 and 2020. In addition to their degrees, they obtained certifications in The Drug Development Process: An Intensive Seminar from UC Berkeley Extension in 2022, as well as a Clinical and Translational Research Academic Course from the NIH Clinical Center (CC) in 2018.
