Jason Berkenfeld

Jason Berkenfeld is a Director at Schmidt Futures, where he oversees strategic diligencing and ongoing portfolio management for social impact projects.

Prior to joining Schmidt Futures, Jason was the Head of Community at Thumbtack, an online marketplace for local services. As Head of Community, Jason built and led a cross-functional team focused on connecting hundreds of thousands of small business owners and local service providers to each other. Through both online and in-person community efforts, Jason’s team successfully drove engagement and loyalty while empowering local pros to build more successful businesses, together.

In addition to his time in tech, Jason has also worked on political campaigns for five cycles, including one cycle spent as the Regional GOTV Director for the Obama campaign in southwest Iowa, and another as the campaign manager for now New York State Senator Brad Hoylman. In these roles, Jason developed expertise in campaign strategy and management, voter outreach and grassroots organizing, policy, fundraising, and communications.

To start his career, Jason spent three years at Bain & Company, a global management consulting firm, where he worked with clients in financial services, healthcare, and retail.Jason earned his J.D. from Yale Law School and is a member of the New York State Bar. He also graduated summa cum laude with a B.A. in History and Science from Harvard.
