Matthew Hodgson

Matthew Hodgson has extensive work experience in various roles related to business transformation, executive coaching, and agile methodologies. Matthew is currently the CEO and Co-Founder of Agile IQ since 2020. Prior to this, they co-founded and served as the CEO of Zen Ex Machina starting from 2011. At Zen Ex Machina, they also held the position of Board of Directors and worked as a Transformation Advisor & Executive Coach, specializing in coaching executives and leadership through digital transformation challenges. Matthew was also the Chief Information Officer (CIO) at Zen Ex Machina from 2011 to 2015.

In addition to their roles at Zen Ex Machina, Matthew has worked in various advisory and transformation roles in different organizations. Matthew was an Executive Business Transformation Advisor (ZXM) at AUSTRAC starting from 2023. Matthew served as a Local Facilitator for the Scrum User Group in Canberra, Australia, under the Scrum Alliance from 2013 onwards. Matthew worked as an Executive and Business Transformation Advisor, focusing on Cyber Security, at Transport for NSW from November 2022 to March 2023.

Other organizations they have worked with include the Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care, Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority, Australian Government Department of Education, Skills and Employment (DESE), Clean Energy Regulator, and the Australian Taxation Office. In these roles, they provided business transformation advisory services, PMO advisory, and served as a DTA Digital Service Standard (DSS) Assessor (ZXM).

At the Australian Taxation Office, Matthew played a key role as a Transformation Coach (ZXM) from 2015 to 2019. Matthew was responsible for launching and developing the first SAFe Agile Release Train and managed the delivery of SAFe/Agile coaching and training services for various departments within the organization.

Matthew Hodgson attended the University of Canberra from 2002 to 2005, where they received a Masters degree in Knowledge Management. Prior to that, they studied at the University of Newcastle and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology.

In addition to their formal education, Matthew has acquired several certifications. Matthew holds a Professional Scrum Facilitation Skills (PSFS) certification from Scrum.org, obtained in January 2023. Matthew also obtained a Certified Professional Coach certification from the Coach Transformation Academy in September 2021. Matthew holds a Professional Agile Leadership (PAL-E) certification, a Professional Scrum Master (PSM III) certification, and a Professional Scrum Trainer certification, all from Scrum.org. These were obtained in January 2021, October 2019, and October 2019, respectively.

Matthew is also a Certified LEGO Serious Play (LSP) Facilitator, certified by Pivotal Play in May 2019. Matthew holds a Certified Agile Leadership (CAL1) certification from the Scrum Alliance, obtained in September 2017. Furthermore, they obtained a Professional Scrum Master (PSM II) certification and a Professional Scrum Master (PSM I) certification, both from Scrum.org, in March 2017 and February 2017, respectively.

Other certifications held by Matthew include a Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) certification from the Scrum Alliance, obtained in September 2016, and a SAFe 5 Program Consultant (SPC5) certification from Scaled Agile, Inc., obtained in March 2016. Matthew also holds a Certified Scrum Professional - Product Owner (CSP-PO) certification and a Certified Scrum Professional - Scrum Master (CSP-SM) certification from the Scrum Alliance, obtained in May 2013. Matthew obtained their Certified Scrum Master (CSM) certification from the Scrum Alliance in 2011, although the specific month is unknown.
