Meng Miguel Sanda Mba

Miguel Sanda is currently working as the Head of Data Science at Sealed Air Corporation, where they lead projects involving the utilization of IoT data for actionable machine insights. Miguel implements machine learning models to optimize food packaging and protective machine performance. Miguel also develops strategies for value added and cost reduction by implementing anomaly detection and dimensionality reduction algorithms on machine time series data.

Prior to their current role, Miguel worked at Duke Energy Corporation as a Sr. Data Scientist. Here, they researched the applications of Graph Theory to model the transmission and distribution grid for power flow simulation. Miguel also led the AMI Analytics Project, using machine learning and artificial intelligence to improve customer satisfaction. Additionally, Miguel researched and developed algorithms to proactively detect patterns, asset misconfigurations, and conditions leading to sustained outages on the grid.

Earlier in their career, Miguel served as a Sr. Project Controls Specialist at Westinghouse Electric Company. Miguel conceptualized, developed, and implemented a graph algorithm to identify revenue losses due to inadvertent scope creep and unapproved client change orders. Miguel also produced monthly multi-billion project reporting packages including cost, schedule progress, and other project KPIs.

Miguel began their career as a Graduate Teacher Assistant at the University of Florida, where they worked in the Construction Management Division. Miguel also worked as a Civil Engineer in a freelance, self-employed capacity, leading surveying projects and performing data collection and processing.

Miguel Sanda holds a Master's Degree in Civil Engineering/Construction Management, which they obtained from the University of Florida in 2007. Prior to this, they completed an Engineer's Degree in B.S. Civil Engineering from Universidad de Carabobo from 2000 to 2005.

In 2015, Miguel pursued further studies and earned a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) with a focus on Data Science from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

Throughout their career, Miguel has also obtained various certifications to enhance their professional qualifications. In 2006, they received the CIV certification from the Colegio de Ingenieros de Venezuela. The following year, they became an Engineer in Training (EIT) after obtaining certification from the Florida Board of Professional Engineers. Subsequently, in 2014, they earned the title of Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)\u00ae from the Project Management Institute. Lastly, in 2017, Miguel obtained their Project Management Professional (PMP)\u00ae certification from the same institute.

Furthermore, in 2022, Miguel Sanda became a Notary Public of South Carolina, obtaining certification from the State of South Carolina.
