John Foley

John Foley is a seasoned software engineer currently serving as a Senior Software Engineer at Second Front Systems since August 2024. Prior to this role, John held several positions at Fortanix, including Staff Software Engineer, Senior Software Engineer, and Software Engineer from July 2022 to July 2024. Academic contributions include serving as an Assistant Professor at Middlebury College and as a Visiting Assistant Professor at Smith College between July 2018 and June 2020. John Foley's research experience includes a significant tenure as a Research Assistant at the University of Massachusetts Amherst from May 2013 to May 2018, with notable internships at Google in software engineering and firmware development at Emulex. John Foley earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Computer Science from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2019, in addition to a Master’s Degree in Computer Science and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering from the same institution and University of Massachusetts Lowell, respectively.
