Ben Parnas

Lead Project Engineer at Second Order Effects

Ben Parnas has worked in a variety of engineering roles since 2009. Ben began their career as a counselor at Land & Sea Robotics Camp, where they taught construction and operation of SeaPerch ROVs and Lego Mindstorm robots. From 2012-2017, Ben was a mentor for Rochester area FIRST Robotic Competition teams and President of RIT FIRST Mentors in 2016-17. In 2014, Ben worked as an Electrical Engineer for 21st Century Group in Maryland, where they designed custom automation designs for government and private businesses. In 2015, they worked as a Systems Integration Test Engineer for Mercury Systems. From 2016-2020, Ben worked at The Construct @ RIT as a Senior Lab Manager, ABL Space Systems as an Avionics Hardware Engineer, and BugBeest Design as a Freelance Designer. In 2021, Ben began working as an Electrical Engineer for Second Order Effects, Inc.

Ben Parnas attended Natick High School from 2008 to 2012, and then Rochester Institute of Technology from 2012 to 2017, where they attained a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and Robotics.
