Tonia Tunnell

Tonia Tunnell is an experienced leader in government relations and election management, currently serving as the Director of Special Projects & Innovation for the Secretary of State in Arizona since January 2023. Prior to this role, Tonia held various positions, including Government Relations Director at Runbeck Election Services, Inc. and Interim Director of the Maricopa County STAR Call Center, where Tonia successfully led a team to enhance customer service operations. As Director of Government Relations for the Maricopa County Recorder, Tonia managed legislative relationships and played a key role in improving election processes. Tonia's background also includes legislative liaison experience at the Arizona Department of Corrections and government affairs leadership with the Arizona Association of Counties. Educational credentials include an M.A. in International Affairs from The George Washington University and a B.A. in Political Science and Economics from California State University, Northridge, along with a Certificate in Public Policy & Management from the University of Arizona.
