Douglas Van Allen has a diverse work experience in various roles related to security and information technology. Douglas started their career at BancTec as a Computer Technician, where they maintained warranty service calls for Dell desktops, laptops, and servers, as well as performed server and networking installation and troubleshooting. Douglas then worked at The KU School of Business as an IT Help Desk Technician, responsible for installation, troubleshooting, administration, and upgrades of computers and software.

In 2015, Douglas joined The University of Kansas as a Security Engineer, where they managed and operated security controls, assisted customers with technical issues related to IT security, resolved or escalated security issues, and participated in security incident response and digital forensics. Douglas also conducted research and testing of new security tools and techniques.
