NOTE: This is a temporary position, estimated to last approximately 520 hours.  After 520 hours, candidates may be considered for a full-time, benefitted position.

The Farm Associate is responsible for all duties required to maintain the good health, production and condition of the crops.   Farm Associates are responsible for packing fruits, vegetables and other supporting activities to maintain farm production.  

Responsibilities 

  • Perform all duties required to maintain the good health and condition of crops. This may include plant and transplant seedlings, leaning/lowering vine crops, deleafing, pollinating, removal of shoots, clipping, transplanting, harvesting, etc.   
  • Harvest, weigh and pack produce (packing produce varies by location).   
  • Visually inspect and handle fruit/vegetable; grade by identifying different ripening stages, sizes and classification and package according to specification.    
  • Report signs of insect or disease damage and food safety issues.    
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area.   
  • Operate farm equipment, ladders and lifts.    
  • Communicate frequently with Team Lead; report quality issues, damage, etc.   
  • Comply with SOPs, occupational safety, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), food safety, and company policies and procedures; ensure standards consistently meet expectations.    
  • Other duties as required or requested by management.   

Required Skills, Abilities and Qualifications 

  •  Must be comfortable working independently or in a collaborative environment.  
  • Strong attention to detail.  
  • Comfortable with heights and ladder use.   
  • Must be able to work in an environment of varying environmental conditions, such as heat and UV exposure within a greenhouse, or cold in a packing room.   
  • Must be able safely lift and/or carry up to 50 lbs.     
  • Comfortable standing for extended periods of time, including walking, bending, kneeling, crouching and climbing.  
  • Comply with food safety and handling practices to minimize contamination and preserve product condition.   
  • Highly reliable, with dependable transportation to work.   

Preferred Skills, Abilities and Qualifications  

  • Experience with farming or greenhouses.

Educational Requirements 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

Compensation

  • $14.42 - $21.63 / hr
