David J. Shulkin

Business Advisory Board Member at Sensyne Health

The Honorable Dr. Shulkin served as the 9th Secretary of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and is considered one of the country’s preeminent proponents of leveraging clinical data to drive more informed clinical and operational decision-making in healthcare.

He brings a broad range of healthcare policy, clinical and operational experience in his position as an advisor to Sensyne. He served in various capacities at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs under two U.S. presidential Administrations, including as Secretary from 2017 to 2018 and as Under Secretary for Health from 2015 to 2017.

Prior that, Dr. Shulkin served as chief executive for a number of separate leading hospitals and health systems including Beth Israel in New York City and Morristown Medical Center in New Jersey. As an entrepreneur, he founded and served as the Chairman and CEO of DoctorQuality and has served on boards of managed care, technology, and life science organizations. Dr. Shulkin is a board-certified internist and received advanced training in outcomes research and economics as a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Clinical Scholar at the University of Pennsylvania. He has been named in the “One Hundred Most Influential People in American Healthcare” by Modern Healthcare.

Dr. Shulkin currently serves as President and CEO of Shulkin Solutions, Inc., a company dedicated to promoting innovation in healthcare and advocating for veterans and underserved populations. He has also spent the past year deeply involved in the national COVID-19 response.
