Brent Bergan

Business Development and Government Relations at Sentient Vision Systems

Brent Bergan has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Brent is currently working as a Business Development and Government Relations professional at Sentient Vision Systems since July 2021. Prior to this, they served as a contributing editor at Vertical Magazine starting in December 2008.

Brent also has a strong background in the U.S. Coast Guard, where they held multiple positions. From June 2020 to the present, they worked as the US Coast Guard Intelligence CG-2, International Agreements, where they supported the development of international and domestic information sharing agreements. During this time, they established the USCG's information sharing and safeguarding board.

From July 2017 to June 2020, Brent served as the Senior Defense Official/Defense Attaché at the U.S. Embassy in San Jose, Costa Rica. In this role, they provided advice on defense, intelligence, and national security matters and developed joint maritime operations with partner nation forces.

Between June 2014 and July 2017, Brent coordinated and led international port security assessments for the U.S. Coast Guard in seven Latin American countries. Brent also attended the Department of State's Foreign Service Institute (FSI) for Spanish from June 2013 to June 2014.

Brent's early career involved serving as a USCG Helicopter Pilot - Search and Rescue from June 2000 to June 2013. Brent flew the HH-65 helicopter and held various management positions such as safety department head, air operations division head, instructor pilot, and logistics department head.

In addition to their government and aviation experience, Brent also owned Paper Trax, an innovative toy company that produced paper-based toy race tracks from August 2015 to December 2020.

Brent Bergan obtained a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the US Coast Guard Academy between 1994 and 1998. Later, they pursued a Master's degree in Aeronautical Science, with a focus on safety, from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University between 2006 and 2008.
