Sumaya Abedin

Sumaya Abedin is an experienced professional with a background in neuroscience and Spanish language and literature, currently pursuing dual degrees at the University of Maryland. In the role of Embryology Lab Technician at Shady Grove Fertility, Sumaya performs critical tasks related to oocyte and sperm processing, embryo management, and result tracking. As the Head Coordinator of the Scholars Peer Mentor Program, Sumaya oversees and supports peer mentors, ensuring first-year students receive adequate guidance and resources while leading social and academic initiatives. Additionally, Sumaya serves as the Women's Soccer Team Manager for Maryland Athletics, organizes community events as a Denton Hall Senator, represents the Denton Community in university governance, mentors children through College Mentors for Kids, and has cultivated leadership skills as the President and Founder of a UNICEF chapter.
