At this time, we are looking for a Shop Setup Technician to join us.  In this role, you’ll work with several of the best-known Fortune 100 companies on innovative technologies and products.

About this Role

As a Shop Setup Technician, you’ll be responsible for helping our prototype machine shop bring concepts to reality by ensuring CNC programs run to spec, getting material ready, loading and running NC programs at the machines, and helping ensure a smooth operation.  Hours can vary by the week and we expect this position to average 30-40 hr per week.

Basic Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience working in a CNC machine shop, preference for a prototype focused shop

  • Attention to detail and driven to produce high quality parts

  • Experience using shop equipment (saws, measuring devices, hand tools)

  • Bi-weekly Cleaning Shop and Machines

  • Able to pass pre-employment background check and drug screen

  • Packaging of parts for shipment to customers

  • Delivery of parts for shipping and outside processing

  • Assist Machine Operators as requested

  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs

Technical Competencies

  • Experience safely operating CNC machine controllers (Fanuc, Siemens)

  • Part Stock Prep

  • Assembly of components using drawings and CAD models as reference

  • Hand Finishing of machined parts

  • Deburr

  • Sand Blasting

  • Threading

  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills

  • Set up of 3 and 5-axis CNC machines using Lang, Kurt, and dovetail vises

  • Measuring using micrometers, gauges and calipers

  • Able to read and interpret part drawings/prints, tolerances, and finishes

  • Efficient time management and able to meet deadlines

  • Have high standards for performance

Compensation and Benefits

This is a full-time non-exempt position. Pay range of $18-$25 per hour, DOE.  In addition, Sherpa offers a competitive benefits package that includes:
