René LaPointe Jameson

Research Assistant at Silent Spring Institute

René LaPointe Jameson has a diverse work experience, beginning in 2016 as a HERlead Fellow for the Vital Voices Global Partnership. In this role, they were selected as one of 50 Fellows from over 4,500 applications and was empowered and equipped with the leadership skills needed to effect global progress, invest in their community, and begin their individual leadership journey. René also applied and was awarded a $2,000 and $2,500 grants to expand their self-directed community garden project to address food insecurity in Greenwich, Connecticut.

In 2019, René began working at Tufts University as an Africana Center Peer Leader, Tisch Scholar Intern, and Global Research Assistant. In 2021, they worked as a Mental Health Equity Research Intern for the Cambridge Health Alliance, a Facilitator for the City of Medford, a Survey Collector for Stantec, and a Morehouse College Project Imhotep Intern for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In this role, they were selected as one of around 220 CDC Undergraduate Public Health Scholars from over 4,500 applications and received graduate-level training. René also completed a rapid literature review, research manuscript, and poster titled "The Effectiveness of Engineering Controls to Reduce Transmission of SARS-CoV-2 in the Workplace" and pitched a Public Health Innovation Jam proposing a self/group-designed mental health mentorship program to improve the mental health of at-risk populations.

In 2020, René worked as a Food Justice Projects Coordinator for Building Audacity and a Racial Equity Media & Programming Consultant for Greenwich Library. René is currently working as a Research Assistant for Silent Spring Institute and Kibale Forest Schools' Program.

René LaPointe Jameson attended Tufts University from 2018 to 2022, where they earned a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering.
