Narmadha Balraj

Battery Engineer at Sionic Energy

Narmadha Balraj has a diverse range of work experience in various roles and industries. Narmadha began their career as an In-Plant Trainee at Ford Motor Company in 2016. Narmadha later worked as a Winter Intern at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, where they focused on enhancing mixing characteristics and control of supersonic parallel twin-jets using vortex generators.

Narmadha then served as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at SSN College of Engineering, where they worked on a project involving the effect of rib orientation in jet impingement heat transfer. Narmadha modeled ribs on gas turbine blades and analyzed heat flux, velocity profiles, and Nusselt number comparisons.

After that, they worked as a Project Associate at the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, where they focused on the performance improvement of a high-pressure compressor stage by optimizing vane diffuser geometries. Narmadha modeled transonic diffusers for a high-pressure radial compressor with different blade profiles and performed discretization of computational domains.

Narmadha also gained experience as a DataMine Researcher at Caterpillar Inc., where they worked on two projects. In the first project, they performed exploratory data analysis on a large dataset and researched methods for imputing missing values in time series data. In the second project, they conducted exploratory data analysis on a dataset of critical failure events and researched the implementation of TF-IDF metrics to find the sequence of events occurring before the critical events.

Narmadha then worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Purdue University before joining Ateios as a Battery Data Engineer Intern. At Ateios, they built software to extract and integrate multiple test data files and automated the label printing process for cell manufacturing.

Narmadha's most recent experience is as a Battery Engineer at Sionic Energy, where they are involved in developing and optimizing electrode formulations with different binders, conductive carbons, and Si active materials. Narmadha also works on assessing and characterizing materials using various techniques.

Overall, Narmadha Balraj has a strong background in research, data analysis, and engineering, with a particular focus on battery technology and optimization.

Narmadha Balraj completed their Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from SSN College of Engineering from 2014 to 2018. Prior to that, they completed their High School education at SRV Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Samayapuram, where they studied Biology, Maths, Physics, and Chemistry from 2012 to 2014. Narmadha also attended Kamala Niketan Montessori School for their Secondary School education in which they studied Xth grade from 2011 to 2012.

Following their Bachelor's degree, Narmadha pursued further education at Purdue University. From 2019 to 2020, they completed their Master's degree in Aeronautics and Aeronautics. Subsequently, they continued their studies at Purdue University from 2020 to 2021, earning a Master of Science (MS) degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Aside from their formal education, Narmadha also acquired additional certifications. In November 2020, they obtained the Deep Learning Specialization certification from Coursera. Furthermore, in June 2020, they acquired the Master SOLIDWORKS certification from LinkedIn.
