RESPONSIBILITIES 

Delivery and Execution

  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to the Core Services team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence to consistently deliver business impact
  • Responsible for Core Services engineering delivery inline with  the roadmap; accountable for the performance of the team and the results they deliver
  • Consistently meet commitments and timelines agreed by the company and the Core Services team
  • Collaborate and partner with Engineering teams, Product leaders and other stakeholders across Skedulo to ensure the timely delivery of shared business objectives and dependencies
  • Ensure the Core Services team outcomes are aligned with the wider business strategy
  • Contribute to Roadmap planning and tactical work planning for the Core Services Group
  • Oversee the planning and execution of projects related to core services, including resource allocation, timelines, and deliverables
  • Build strong relationships with Engineering leaders across the business and effectively navigate organizational dynamics and changes
  • Demonstrate strong decision-making skills in ambiguous situations, balancing data-driven analysis, stakeholder input, and a sense of urgency to make informed choices that drive progress
  • Contributing to code and code reviews and helping the team deliver robust, maintainable, and high-quality software. Our tech stack consists of React, Typescript, Kotlin, Node, and Scala. Familiarity with some but not all of these technologies is required.

People Leadership

  • Recruit, mentor, develop, and retain high performing engineering talent to execute the company's technical vision.
  • Help your staff to overcome obstacles, resolve blockers, and complete work tasks
    • Mentor/ coach direct reports in an open, respectful, flexible, and empathetic manner
  • Provide positive and constructive feedback to direct reports in a timely manner
  • Work with your reports to build and achieve goals on their Career Development Plans through regular (weekly or bi-weekly) 1 on 1’s with your direct reports.
  • Partner with other Engineering leaders to ensure adequate resourcing
  • Participate in the performance management process where required
  • Share relevant information from senior leaders and executives to your staff and communicate with your team in an effective, clear, concise manner in both written and verbal form
  • Drive high performance across your team with even distribution of performance (vs. hero-culture)
  • Weave our company values into the fabric of how your team operates and makes decisions
  • Can clearly articulate the company vision and how your team supports the vision
  • Demonstrate self-awareness, accountability, ownership and strong communication when issues arise
  • Effectively delegate and promote autonomy with situational support
  • Actively limit single points of failure and knowledge silos
  • Provide clarity around the processes and policies of Skedulo for your staff
  • Care genuinely for the health and wellbeing of your staff

Process Improvement

  • Drive initiatives across your Group and more broadly across Engineering to continuously improve the security, observability, availability, and performance of the Skedulo product suite

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Must have at least 5+ years commercial experience in software development.
  • Must have at least 2+ years prior experience in a people leadership role.
  • Must have at least 2+ years working with agile development methodologies.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to think quickly, and work well in an agile environment.
  • Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and contribute to the product strategy to successfully deliver on the product roadmap
  • Possess strong verbal, and written English communication skills with the ability to explain the approach to all levels of the organization including key stakeholders
  • Prior experience and comfort in managing teams while, at the same time, setting goals, giving context and empowering people to achieve those goals
  • Strong project management, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
