Mary Amato (She/Hers/Her)

Assistant Superintendent of Recreation at Skokie Park District

As the Assistant Superintendent of Recreation, Amato works closely with the Superintendent of Recreation to oversee operations within the Recreation Division. She manages the Devonshire Cultural Center, Oakton Community Center, and Tot Learning Center, while also supervising the district's Summer Camp Program. In this role, she provides leadership to ensure that recreational facilities and programs are of the highest quality and effectively meet the community's needs. Additionally, she oversees the district’s DEI initiatives, coordinates special events such as the Festival of Cultures and Skokie Pride, and partners with community groups to promote equity and inclusion.

When she's not busy overseeing the recreation department, Amato enjoys decorating, shopping, and playing hide and seek with her boys. One thing you may not know about Amato is that she was born on Pearl Harbor Day, "the day that will live in infamy." She can't live without her daily three shots of espresso and is a dedicated fan of the Fighting Illini. With music, Amato’s tastes are diverse—ranging from rock and country to rap, blues, and jazz. Currently, she is enjoying Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats.
