Deb Elliott-Desorbo

Deb Elliott-DeSorbo has a diverse work experience in the field of psychology. Deb began their career as a psychologist in the United States Air Force, where they provided therapy, consulted with Commanders, and designed programs. After leaving the military, they worked as a psychologist specializing in Compensation & Pension assessments for veterans and active duty members.

Following this, Deb joined the University of the Rockies as a Core Professor for Professional Psychology and later as an Associate Core Professor for Organizational Leadership. In these roles, they taught graduate courses, supervised students, and served in various faculty governance positions.

Deb then transitioned to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, where they conducted therapy with combat veterans and those with military sexual trauma. Deb also took on leadership roles as the Clinical Coordinator and Acting Team Leader.

Currently, Deb is working at the St. Louis Behavioral Medicine Institute. Deb serves as the Director of Health Psychology, leading a team of clinicians who provide mental health services to individuals with physical illnesses. Additionally, they are the Director of Training, overseeing the training programs for postdoctoral fellows and practicum students. Deb is also the Administrative Director of the Gender Affirming Program, which they founded to provide mental health care to transgender individuals and those with non-binary identities. In their clinical role, they conduct therapy with a focus on health psychology, trauma, aging, and working with medical professionals as well as transgender and non-binary individuals. Deb is also involved in providing education to Behavioral Health Consultants throughout the state of Missouri.

Deb Elliott-DeSorbo completed their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Psychology and Public Health at Rutgers University from 1994 to 1998. Deb then pursued their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Clinical Psychology at The George Washington University, which they achieved from 2001 to 2006.
