Silvano Sogus

Silvano Sogus has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies and roles. Silvano'smost recent position is as the Director of Security Architecture and Assurance at Smart DCC, where they began in July 2022. Prior to this, they held the role of Head of Security Architecture at the same company from December 2020 to July 2022.

Before joining Smart DCC, Silvano worked at PA Consulting as the Head of Security Architecture from June 2018 to December 2020. Silvano was responsible for delivering consulting work on cyber and information security programs. Silvano'sexpertise lies in cyber risk advisory for C-level executives and boardrooms, enterprise security architecture, cloud security, cyber risk assessment and mitigation, design and delivery of security transformation programs, and development of bespoke security applications.

From December 2016 to June 2018, Silvano served as a Senior Solutions Architect at NCC Group, a global organization focused on cybersecurity. In this role, they assessed clients' needs in terms of security assurance and defined bespoke solutions to fulfill their requirements. Earlier in their career, Silvano worked as a Technical and Presales Manager at Programming Research, where they managed pre-sales, support, and consulting departments. Silvano was involved in functional safety, cyber security, training and consulting, pre-sales, account management, C & C++ coding standards, code review and standard compliance, safety processes, and RTOS, Linux, UNIX, and Windows systems.

Before Programming Research, from 2000 to 2014, Silvano operated as the Director - Information Security and Innovation Advisor at GTech Consulting, offering technical and management consulting for security and R&D areas. Silvano'sexpertise encompassed vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, BS7799/ISO 27001 consulting, preparation for certification and audit, and network/system security consulting.

Silvano also has experience in the energy engineering field, serving as the Founder/Director of BeeDree, an engineering company focused on energy efficiency services and renewable energy management. Silvano'srole involved project management, due diligence for renewable energy installations, SWOT analysis, design, engineering, supplier identification and negotiation, permitting and authorizations, field engineering, performance testing, and improvement analysis and consulting.

Additionally, Silvano worked as a Project Manager at Vodafone Italy in 2006 and as a Network & Security Engineer at Telecom Italia from 2001 to 2005. Silvano started their career as a self-employed Software/Firmware Engineer from 1998 to 2000.

Silvano Sogus holds a Master of Engineering (MSc Eng) degree in Electronics from Politecnico di Torino. In addition to their formal education, they have obtained certifications such as "Member of the CIISec" from the Chartered Institute of Information Security in August 2020, and "Security in Google Cloud Platform Specialization" from Coursera in May 2019. Silvano is also a member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), although the specific month and year of this membership are not provided. Silvano is recognized as a Professional Engineer by Politecnico di Torino.
