Marco Villegas

Marco Villegas has extensive work experience in the energy and utility industry. Marco started their career at Fluor in 2001 as an Associate Design Engineer II, where they were responsible for writing design specifications, preparing material and design standards, and producing electrical drawings. In 2003, they joined Southern California Edison as a Transmission Engineer, where they performed analysis and design for various voltage lines and provided cost estimates and scopes of work. Marco later transitioned to the role of Distribution Field Engineer, focused on analyzing and maintaining distribution systems. In 2008, they joined FirstEnergy as a Sr. Engineer, where they served as a planning and protection engineer for distribution and secondary network systems. Currently, Marco is serving as the Principal Distribution System Engineer at Sacramento Municipal Utility District, responsible for analyzing the performance of electrical transmission and distribution systems and ensuring compliance with policies, regulations, and safety standards.

Marco Villegas earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from California State Polytechnic University-Pomona, studying from 1995 to 2001.
