Dermot Power has a diverse work experience in the field of IT and cybersecurity. Dermot started their career as an IT Administrator at The K Club in 2006 and later became an IT Manager. In 2008, they took on the role of IT Administrator at Connell Wagner before joining Smurfit Kappa as an IT Administrator. At Smurfit Kappa, Dermot progressed to the role of IT Manager, Head of IT Ireland, Director of IT Security and Compliance, and finally Global Director of Cybersecurity. In their current role, they are responsible for designing and developing the Global Cybersecurity unit within the company's Global IS Organisation.
Dermot Power's education history includes a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Technology/Computer Systems Technology from Technological University Dublin in 2005. In 2018, they attended INSEAD for Organizational Leadership. Dermot also obtained a Certificate in Data Protection Practitioner from the Irish Computer Society in 2017. In 2016, Dermot received an Advanced Diploma in Project Management from Dublin Business School and completed the Managing People Programme in People Management at Technological University Dublin. Dermot acquired additional certifications in ITIL V3 Foundation IT Services Management from SureSkills in 2014 and Finance for Non-Financial Managers from Griffith College Dublin in 2013. Dermot also completed training programs in Foundation in Management and Performance Management and Appraisal Skills at IBEC in 2012, and Installing and Configuring a Windows 7 Client at New Horizons Dublin in 2011.
