Sonia Couprie

Sonia Couprie has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. Sonia has held various positions at different companies throughout their career.

Sonia's most recent role is as the Director Global Sourcing Center of Excellence at Smurfit Kappa, starting in 2023.

Prior to that, they were a Steering Committee Member and Co-lead for team Partnerships and team Content at The Sustainable Procurement Pledge from 2020 onwards.

From 2021 to 2023, Sonia worked at FedEx as the Global Sustainable Procurement Lead, where they were responsible for developing sustainable procurement initiatives in partnership with suppliers.

From 2005 to 2021, Sonia had a significant tenure at Liberty Global, where they held multiple roles. Sonia was the Director of Global Procurement Center of Excellence, leading a transformation program to establish best practices across the company. Sonia also served as the Senior Manager Internal Audit and Internal Audit Manager during their time at Liberty Global.

Before joining Liberty Global, Sonia worked as a Restructuring Consultant at Belgium Food group in 2004. Sonia also had a role as a Department Manager in the Transaction Support Services department at Mazars from 2000 to 2003.

Sonia's early career includes roles as an Auditor at Mazars and an M&A Project Manager at BNP Paribas.

Sonia Couprie has a diverse education history. In 1989-1994, they obtained a Masters degree in Management and International Business from Institut national des langues et civilisations orientales (Inalco). Sonia also completed the Executive Program in Business Process Design for Strategic Management at MIT Sloan School of Management in 2020. In 2007, they became a Certified Internal Auditor from the IIA-The Institute of Internal Auditors. Additionally, they attended Future Purchasing in 2017-2018 for strategic procurement education. Currently, they are pursuing a degree in Sustainable Supply Chain from the University of Cambridge's Institute for Sustainability Leadership.
