Rob Lavet

General Counsel at SoFi

Rob Lavet is the current General Counsel at SoFi. Prior to this, they were a Partner at Powers, Pyles, Sutter & Verville, P.C. from July 2008 to September 2012. Rob has also served as the Senior Vice President and General Counsel at Sallie Mae from January 1992 to December 2008 and as a Trial Attorney at the U.S. Department of Justice from September 1982 to September 1985.

Lavet has built a successful career representing numerous financial institutions and financial services firms. Rob has expertise in all aspects of consumer credit and has represented educational institutions and financial institutions in responding to government investigations, including State Attorney General Investigations. Rob has also successfully represented financial services companies in False Claims Act lawsuits.

Rob Lavet received their B.A. cum laude in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania and their J.D. cum laude from Georgetown University Law Center.

They work with Jeremy Rishel - CTO, Katie Wells - SVP, Business Unit Leader – Member, and Jennifer Nuckles - EVP & Group Business Leader, Enterprise, Content, Insights. Rob Lavet reports to Anthony Noto, CEO. Some individuals on their team include Jim Maloney - Chief Security & Privacy Officer, Alan Carlisle - Chief Compliance Officer.
