Thomas Hughes has a diverse work experience spanning over several positions and companies. Thomas started their career at AT&T in 1995, where they held various roles including Regional Sales Manager and Director of Marketing Communications. At AT&T, they managed advertising campaigns and directed multiple advertising agencies. In 2010, Thomas joined NRG Energy, where they held positions such as Executive Director of Reliant Energy Charitable Foundation and Head of Retail Marketing. Thomas was responsible for leading marketing strategies, messaging, and communications planning across multiple brands and regions. Thomas also worked on sponsorship marketing, promotions, trade show, and customer events efforts. In 2018, Thomas became Head of Strategic Initiatives, Planning, and Integration at NRG, where they led annual strategic and go-to-market planning efforts. In 2019, they transitioned to the role of Head of Innovation Partnerships and Planning before assuming their current role as Head of Go-to-Market, Brand & Creative in 2021. Throughout their career, Thomas has demonstrated expertise in marketing strategy, branding, go-to-market planning, and cross-functional collaboration. Additionally, they have been involved in co-founding Kelly Hughes Designs and serving as a board member for Baylor University's Sports Sponsorship & Sales Program. Thomas also served as an editorial board member for the Journal of Sponsorship.
Thomas Hughes received a Bachelor of Science degree in Justice Systems from Truman State University, where they attended from 1990 to 1994. Thomas then pursued a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Business Administration from Webster University, completing their studies from 1995 to 1997.
