Mark Wagy

Mark Wagy has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Currently, they hold the position of Vice President of Global Risk Decision Science at WEX, starting in March 2023.

Prior to their current role, Mark was involved in entrepreneurship as Co-Founder of Solve Finance, where they served as CTO & Co-Founder from February 2021 to April 2022. Mark also held the role of Adjunct Professor at Northeastern University from March 2021 onwards.

In addition, Mark worked at the Institute for Experiential AI at Northeastern University as the Manager, AI Solutions Hub from April 2022 to March 2023.

Before their time at Northeastern University, Mark worked at WEX in various capacities. Mark held the positions of Senior Director, Data Analytics and Research from September 2020 to February 2021, Director, Data Science and Engineering from April 2019 to September 2020, Lead Data Scientist / Artificial Intelligence Team Lead from October 2018 to April 2019, and Senior Data Scientist from February 2017 to October 2018.

Mark's earlier roles include Research Associate at Dartmouth College from August 2016 to March 2017, and self-employment as a Data Science and Data Architecture Consultant from 2012 to 2017.

Mark was also a NSF IGERT Graduate Research Fellow at the University of Vermont from 2012 to July 2016, and a Software Engineer and Research Assistant at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) from 2011 to 2012.

Before their graduate studies, Mark gained work experience as a Senior Software Engineer at LexisNexis from 2008 to 2012.

Mark Wagy obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics and Physics from Lewis & Clark College between the years 1996 and 2000. Mark then pursued another Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science from the University of Minnesota from 2008 to 2012. Finally, they completed their education with a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Computer Science from the University of Vermont from 2012 to 2016.
