Gioia Althoff Ruhlmann has extensive work experience in various roles and industries. Gioia began their career in 1998 at ORES, working with The Ocean Research and Education Society. From there, they went on to work as a Research Intern at Novartis in 2003 and CENARGEN-EMBRAPA in 2004. In 2005, they joined Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg im Breisgau as a Research Assistant, followed by a position as a Research Assistant/PhD program at Phillipps-Universität Marburg/Universitätsklinikum Marburg (Germany) from 2006 to 2009. From 2009 to 2014, they worked as a PhD Biologist, Sales & Production, and Co-owner of the vineyard Costes-Cirgues at Domaine de Costes-Cirgues. In 2014, they joined SOPHiA GENETICS as a Sales & Business Development Manager, and later took on roles such as Territory Manager France & DACH, Head of Business Development, and Senior Vice President Genomics Business Area. As of 2022, they are the VP, Head of Biopharma Business Operations at SOPHiA GENETICS.

Gioia Althoff Ruhlmann has a diverse education history. Gioia began their education at Lycée Jean Mermoz in Saint Louis, France, where they earned their Baccalauréat Général with a major in Biology in 1998. Gioia then attended Université Louis Pasteur (Strasbourg I) from 1999 to 2003, where they obtained a Licence in Neurophysiology and Cell Biology. Gioia continued their studies at the same university and obtained a Master's degree in Cell Biology and Physiology in 2004.

In 2005, Gioia received additional certifications, including the Winter School of Neurogenomics from NEUREX/ELTEM. Gioia also received the First Certificate of Cambridge in 1997 and the Zentrale Mittlere Prüfung (ZMP) from the Goethe Institut in the same year.

Subsequently, they pursued their PhD at the University of Freiburg, starting in 2005 and completing it in 2009. Their PhD program focused on Human Biology. Gioia then attended Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg im Breisgau in 2013, where they obtained their Dr. rer. nat. (Ph.D.) in Neuropathology, Brain, and Experimental Autoimmune Encephalomyelitis. Lastly, in 2014, they attended École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) and obtained a Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) in Life Sciences, Pharma, Biotech, and Medtech.

Throughout their education, Gioia has demonstrated a strong commitment to the field of biology and has actively pursued additional certifications to enhance their knowledge and skills.
