James Royer is an accomplished scientist with extensive experience in materials development and process engineering. Currently serving as a Staff Scientist and formerly as a Senior Process Scientist at South 8 Technologies since January 2019, James specializes in the development of novel liquefied gas electrolyte (LiGas™) batteries. Prior to this role, James held positions as a Senior Research Scientist and Research Scientist at American Air Liquide from October 2012 to December 2018, focusing on plasma etching processes. Academic achievements include a PhD in Chemistry from UC San Diego, where research centered on organic thin film chemical sensors, as well as a Master's degree from UC San Diego and a Bachelor's degree from the University of Maryland. James has also contributed to research at the National Institute of Standards and Technology, specializing in materials and fabrication methods for organic thin film transistors.
