Samuel Sandowski

VP of Medical Education at South Nassau Communities Hospital Inc

Dr. Sandowski is a Professor of Family Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (ISMMS) and the VP for Medical Education at Mount Sinai South Nassau (MSSN). He also serves as the Residency Director at the ISMMS South Nassau Family Medicine Program. He graduated cum laude from the Technion Faculty of Medicine in Israel. After completing his family medicine residency at South Nassau Communities Hospital and a faculty development fellowship at the State University of New York Health Science Center, Brooklyn (SUNY Brooklyn), he served as Medical Director of SUNY Brooklyn’s Family Medicine center. Dr. Sandowski subsequently returned to South Nassau to serve in his educational roles noted, as well as Associate Chair of the Department of Family Medicine and DIO for the hospital. He oversees medical student education, resident and fellowship medical education (GME), and continuing medical education (CME) for Mount Sinai South Nassau. Dr. Sandowski has served as a commission member of the NY State Academy of Family Physicians’ Leadership Commission and as Vice Chair of their Education Commission. He has published several articles and book chapters, co-edited the textbook Primary Care, and has presented regionally and nationally. He has also served as a reviewer for the journal American Family Physician. Dr. Sandowski is board certified in family medicine and adolescent medicine.
