Jānis Ābols has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Jānis started their career in 2011 as an Exhibition Coordinator at Gauja National Park Tourism Cluster. In 2015, they worked as an Events and Marketing Assistant at the University of Bedfordshire and later as a Front of House Manager and Gallery Assistant at Firestation Arts & Culture CIC, where they organized events, managed bookings, and handled finances.
Jānis then joined Southbank Centre in 2018, initially working as a Ticketing and Membership Operations Assistant. In this role, they managed ticket sales, handled complaints, and maintained the CRM and membership database. Currently, they hold the position of Music Programming (Classical & Contemporary Music), Artistic Rentals & Partnerships Assistant. In this role, they provide secretarial and administrative support to heads and programmers in the Classical, Contemporary, and Arts Rentals departments. Jānis manages contracts, budgets, and finances, coordinates music event on-sales, and liaises with artists, agents, and promoters regarding technical and stage requirements.
Throughout their career, Jānis has demonstrated their expertise in event management, program coordination, administrative support, ticketing operations, and membership services. Jānis has also developed skills in marketing, sales, and financial management.
Jānis Ābols completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in Visual and Performing Arts from the University of Bedfordshire between 2012 and 2015. Prior to that, they pursued vocational music education in orchestral performance at Sigulda Arts School 'Baltais Flīģelis' from 2011 to 2012. Furthermore, in 2010 they briefly attended Convitto Nazionale Umberto I, although the degree and field of study are unspecified for that period.
